Michelin, the 32-edition world-renowned guide that’s considered the ne plus ultra of the food world, just released its 2020 list for New York City and Westchester County. It’s one of three esteemed rankings (along with the James Beard Awards and World’s 50 Best Restaurants) that can considerably influence a restaurant’s success: Earning even just one star can solidify an establishment’s place in the culinary firmament.

As always, this year’s most noteworthy shifts happened in the one-star category, with eight new one-star restaurants, most of which are decidedly more casual than what 

Michelin inspectors typically prefer—Benno, Crown Shy, Estela, The Four Horsemen, Le Jardinier, Odo, Oxalis, and Ukiyo.”
